Designer Sofa FAQs

  • Known for creating some of the highest quality custom made sofas in Melbourne, our goal is to ensure you receive a sofa that perfectly suits the space it is designed for.

Therefore, if the standard sizes available in our range are not quite right, we can extend or reduce the dimensions accordingly.

Although additional charges may apply, it will be worth it to know you will soon be enjoying a piece of custom made furniture, designed to seamlessly fit your space.

  • The most appropriate type of fabric for you really depends on your circumstances and tastes. For instance, do you have kids or pets that mean some extra durability will be required?

You’ll also want to consider what kind of style you’re looking for, with each material bringing a different feel and visual. For instance, linen offers a more casual aesthetic, velvet creates a sense of luxury, and wool provides a more tailored look.

Fabrics tend to offer a much broader selection of textures and colours, and many find them to be comfier, cosier and more relaxing than leather alternatives. For that reason, fabric options account for the majority of sofas we are asked to create.

However, leather sofas can be an excellent choice if you’re after a more luxurious feel, and can offer a more robust finish.

We work only with the highest quality grades of leather, which are supple, and mean won’t feel that coldness often associated with pieces of furniture that have leather upholstery.

  • Upholstering with leather is typically more complex than with fabric. It’s a thicker material and much harder to cut, therefore requiring more time.

In addition, while fabric comes on a roll, there’s nothing consistent about leather hides. No two are exactly the same in size or shape, meaning we need to be more creative about how we lay down patterns to get the most out of leather hides. For that reason, a larger quantity of leather is required to upholster the same size of area.

The general rule of thumb is that for every 1m of fabric we would need 1.75sqm of leather. So if your fabric or leather cost is $100/m or /sqm and you require 10m, $1,000 of fabric becomes $1,750 of leather, which makes a significant difference to the total cost.

  • We offer a seven year warranty on all our sofas. We will repair or replace any product or part which fails due to a manufacturing defect or issues with structural integrity. Where sensible maintenance and proper usage can be demonstrated, repair work will be completed free-of-charge during the warranty period.

It’s important to note that fabric and leather warranties are separate to this. Please refer to our detailed warranty brochure for more information.

  • Every piece of anaca studio luxury furniture offers great comfort and support, with consideration given to proportions that will accommodate the needs of the majority of people. However, we do understand that comfort is a very personal thing.

Put your feet up at the end of a busy day, curl up and sink in with relaxed cushioning, get a bit of bounce with a foam only option, or go for a feather wrap alternative for a luxurious feel. The choice is yours!

When choosing a sofa you must also consider your own height and any other physical requirements.

If you suffer with a sore back, for instance, you might consider avoiding anything too deep, as this may not offer the back support you need. Instead, shallower sofas (850mm) will keep your back straighter, and help reduce slouching.

If you have trouble getting out of your seat, you might consider a sofa that stands around 400 mm high, to make getting up and down easier.

This is why it’s so important to visit our contemporary furniture store and showroom, and give our range a thorough test-drive!

  • We create our sofas by expertly combining high-quality timber frames, premium GreenTag certified, high-density foams, feather wrap cushion fillings, and premium elastic webbing. Internal metal frames are also used where required, for additional strength.

We work with a wide variety of local fabric and leather suppliers who offer high-quality upholstery materials that look and feel luxurious.

All our sofas are proudly made to order in Melbourne by a team of experts in the field.
